Create A New Main Menu Item

Creating a menu item is very easy. Follow these instructions.

  1. This exercise assumes you have completed the previous exercise.
  2. Examine the customization center. This is a picture of the customization editor.
  3. Find the Modifier Commands category.
  4. Find the CreateBevelModifier command.
  5. Left click and drag the command over the Face option on the main menu.
  6. The Face menu appears as you move the mouse over the menu.
  7. Drag the command down and drop it above Canine Cancer Awareness.
  8. Right click over Canine Cancer Awareness menu item.
  9. Select Delete from the listed options.
  10. Repeat this procedure until you have deleted everything except the CreateBevelModifier option.
  11. The menu looks like this: This is a picture of the face menu.
  12. Examine the customization center.
  13. Find the CreateCalculateNormalsModifier command.
  14. Left click and drag the command over the Face option on the main menu.
  15. The Face menu appears.
  16. Drag the command down and drop it below CreateBevelModifier.

  18. Examine the customization center.
  19. Find the CreateCollapseModifier command.
  20. Left click and drag the command over the Face option on the main menu.
  21. The Face menu appears.
  22. Drag the command down and drop it below CreateCalculateNormalsModifier.

  24. Right click over the CreateBevelModifier item on the main menu.
  25. Select Button Appearance from the listed options.
  26. Set Button Text to &BevelModifier.
  27. Click OK when you are finished.
  28. Right click over the CreateCalculateNormalsModifier item on the main menu.
  29. Select Button Appearance from the listed options.
  30. Set Button Text to &CalculateNormalsModifier.
  31. Click OK when you are finished.
  32. Right click over the CreateCollapseModifier item on the main menu.
  33. Select Button Appearance from the listed options.
  34. Set Button Text to C&ollapseModifier.
  35. Click OK when you are finished.
  36. The menu looks like this: This is a picture of the face menu.
  37. Right click over the CalculateNormalsModifier item on the main menu.
  38. Select Start Group from the listed options.
  39. This creates a horizontal separator above the item.
  40. Right click over the CollapseModifier item on the main menu.
  41. Select Start Group from the listed options.
  42. The menu looks like this: This is a picture of the face menu.
  43. To remove a horizontal separator, right click over the item and select Start Group.
  44. Please delete this sample menu when you have completed this exercise.
