Configure texture coordinates.

Create A Texture

This series of instructions teaches you to create a texture and configure texture coordinates.

  1. Examine the hierarchy.
  2. Right click over the group node named Textures and select Create » Texture from the listed options.
  3. Expand the Textures group. This is a picture of the hierarchy.
    This is a blank texture, indicated by the × for the icon.
  4. Double click NewTextureNode.
  5. This displays texture properties in the property editor.
  6. Set Texture File to EXERCISES\TEXTURES\ROAD.BMP.
  7. The texture node icon appears in the hierarchy.
  8. Right click on the texture and select Use Relative Path from the listed options.
  9. Find the group node named Palette: RoadMesh.
  10. Hold down CTRL and left click the material node named RoadMaterial
  11. The texture node and material node are selected.
  12. Right click and select Connect Nodes Directly from the listed options.
  13. This sets the material node Texture parameter to point at the texture node.
  14. Middle click the worksheet.
  15. Hit ALT+Z to set the software to navigate mode.
  16. Select Worksheet » Show » Curves from the main menu.
  17. This hides the curves.
  18. Navigate until you can see one of the road segments, close-up. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  19. Examine the hierarchy.
  20. Right click over the path node named Rail Curve and select Texture » 5 Meter Tiling from the listed options.
  21. Choose Select » Deselect All from the main menu.
  22. Choose Hierarchy » Refresh All from the main menu.
  23. The road texture tiling changes: This is a picture of the worksheet.
  24. Save your work.
