Creating A Master File

Duplicate the level-of-detail and link node structure.
Examine the hierarchy on the left side of the desktop.
Left click the level-of-detail node named
Terrain 1x1 High Detail
.
Hold down
CTRL
.
Left click and drag
Terrain 1x1 High Detail
over
Scene
.
Release the left mouse button when
Scene
highlights.
The hierarchy looks like this:
Left click the cloned level-of-detail node.
The node highlights, indicating selection.
Wait a second and left click the node again.
The node opens for naming.
Set the name to
Terrain 1x2 High Detail
.
Left click the small
+
to the left of
Terrain 1x2 High Detail
.
Left click the cloned
Link: TerrainMesh 1x1
link node.
Wait a second and left click again.
The node highlights, indicating selection.
Wait a second and left click the node again.
The node opens for naming.
Set the name to
Link: TerrainMesh 1x2
.
The hierarchy looks like this:
Double click
Link: TerrainMesh 1x2
.
This displays link properties in the property editor.
Scroll down and find the
Link Settings
property group.
Left click the right column of the
Point At This .BOX File
parameter field.
This displays the Open dialog and allows you to select the database you wish to reference.
Set the
File Path
to EXERCISES\DISPLACEMENT\USER_TERRAIN_1x2.BOX.
Click
Open
when you are ready.
Set the
Node Path
to
/Scene/Terrain_1x2
.
Right click on the link node and choose
Use Relative Path
from the listed options.
The worksheet looks like this:
Examine the hierarchy.
Double-click
Terrain 1x2 High Detail
.
This displays level-of-detail properties in the browser.
Scroll down and find the
Switching Options
property group.
Set
Center X
to
16
.
Set
Center Y
to
-16
.
This sets the level-of-detail center to the centroid of the mesh on X/Y.
Select
File
»
Save
from the main menu.
