Learn To Scale

Scenome's scaling is combined with select mode functionality. This means you can create, clear, and alter selections while in scale mode.

  1. Make sure Scenome is not running.
  2. Start Scenome.
  3. Open \EXERCISES\LEARN_TO_SCALE.BOX from inside the Scenome data folder.
  4. The path is likely C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Scenomics\Exercises.
    NOTE: Your system might use a specific user name in the path instead of "OWNER".
  5. Select Worksheet » Global Edges from the main menu. [ ALT + W + E ]
  6. Select Worksheet » Show » Lights from the main menu. [ ALT + W + S + L ] This is a picture of the worksheet.
  7. By default, select mode is active when the software starts.
  8. Left click the worksheet.
  9. Hit W to set the software to scale mode.
  10. The scale tweaker appears.
  11. Hit H to set the software to select faces.
  12. Select a single face. It doesn't really matter which face you select.
  13. Select Manipulator » Align With Centroid from the main menu. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  14. Left click the red handle and drag it slowly to the right.
  15. The face scales along X+.
  16. The worksheet looks like this: This is a picture of the worksheet.
  17. Hit CTRL + Z to undo the changes.
  18. Hold down SHIFT and left click and drag any handle to the right.
  19. The face scales uniformly along X, Y, and Z. This includes Z although there is no coordinate change on Z at present. This is a picture of the worksheet.
