Learn To Scale

Scenome's scaling is combined with select mode functionality. This means you can create, clear, and alter selections while in scale mode.

Setup Work

  1. Start Scenome.
  2. Open MY DOCUMENTS\SCENOMICS\EXERCISES\LEARN_TO_SCALE.BOX.
  3. Enable Worksheet » Show » Global Edges from the main menu.
  4. Disable Worksheet » Show » Lights from the main menu.

Learn To Scale

By default, select mode is active when the software starts.

  1. Left click the worksheet.
  2. Hit W to set the software to scale mode.

    The scale manipulator appears.

  3. Hit H to set the software to select faces.
  4. Select a single face. It doesn't really matter which face you select.
  5. Select » Worksheet » Manipulator » Align With Centroid from the main menu. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  6. Left click the red "line" handle and drag it slowly to the left or right.

    The face scales along X+.

    The worksheet looks like this: ( Your results may not match exactly. )

  7. Hit CTRL + Z to undo the changes.
  8. Hold down SHIFT and left click and drag any manipulator handle to the right.

    The face scales uniformly along X, Y, and Z. This includes Z although there is no coordinate change on Z at present.
