Learn To Translate

Scenome's translation is combined with select mode functionality. This means you can create, clear, and alter selections while in translate mode.

  1. Make sure Scenome is not running.
  2. Start Scenome.
  3. Open \EXERCISES\LEARN_TO_TRANSLATE.BOX from inside the Scenome data folder.
  4. The path is likely C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Scenomics\Exercises.
    NOTE: Your system might use a specific user name in the path instead of "OWNER".
  5. Select Worksheet » Global Edges from the main menu. [ ALT + W + E ]
  6. Select Worksheet » Show » Lights from the main menu. [ ALT + W + S + L ]
  7. The worksheet looks like this: This is a picture of the worksheet.
  8. By default, select mode is active when the software starts.
  9. Left click the worksheet.
  10. Hit Q to set the software to translate mode.
  11. The translate tweaker appears.
  12. Hit K to set the software to select vertices. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  13. Hold down SHIFT and select a few vertices. It doesn't really matter which vertices you select. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  14. Left click and drag the blue tweaker handle downward.
  15. This translates the vertices along Z-. This is a picture of the worksheet.
  16. Examine the hierarchy on the left side of your workspace.
  17. There are one or more TransformModifiers. Whenever you translate, scale, or rotate mesh geometry, the software automatically adds a TransformModifier to the construction history.
  18. Double click the TransformModifier to see its properties. You can change transform properties if you want.
