Create A New Main Menu Category
The File option on the main menu is an example of a category. Keep the
following standards in mind:
- Only create new categories if you are adding major functionality.
- Most commands can easily fit into an existing menu category or sub-category.
- For Example: if you add a new node to ScenomePlatform, place its create command somewhere in the Create menu.
- For Example: if you add a new node to ScenomePlatform, place relevant commands inside the node's command menu.
- Don't add a new menu category for a single node.
Create A New Main Menu Category
- Start the application.
- Select Desktop » Customize from the main menu.
- Examine the main menu.
- Move the mouse over the Help category but do not left click the category name.
- Hold down CTRL.
- Left click the category name and slowly drag the mouse left, across the main menu.
- The cursor changes and a dark vertical placement bar appears between menu items.

- Release the left mouse button when the vertical bar appears between the Modify and Worksheet categories.
The desktop looks like this. Notice the new Help category.

- Right click over the new Help category.
This displays the customize command menu.
- Select Button Appearance from the listed options.
This displays the button appearance dialog.
- Set button text to &Modify. Include the ampersand.
- Click OK or hit ENTER when you are finished.
- The main menu looks like this:

Set Command Names
- Right click over the command named SetInteractiveTranslate.
- Choose Button Appearance from the listed options.
- Set the button text to &Translate.
- Click OK when you are finished.
- Right click over the command named SetInteractiveScale.
- Choose Button Appearance from the listed options.
- Set the button text to &Scale.
- Click OK when you are finished.
- Right click over the command named SetInteractiveRotate.
- Choose Button Appearance from the listed options.
- Set the button text to &Rotate.
- Click OK when you are finished.
The menu looks like this:
- Find the Transform Commands Category.

- Examine the customization center and click Close.
Provided a selection is active, these commands are now active and accessible by mousing over
the menu and choosing an option or by using ALT+M+T, ALT+M+S,
or ALT+M+R. Go ahead and test these commands.
Delete The Modify Menu
- Select Desktop » Customize from the main menu.
- Right click over the Modify menu and select Delete from the
listed options.
- Shut down the application and restart.
