Document Conventions
This document assumes you have previous experience with Windows software,
although previous experience is not strictly required to operate Scenome.
Terminology
- This document refers to Scenome 1.0 as "Scenome", "the software", or "the application".
- The Scenome "desktop" is its entire user interface configuration. You might call this a workspace.
Presentation
- Commands and interface references are displayed with bold typeface.
- If you see the following instruction: "Select File » Save from the main menu."
- This means "left click on the File menu and then left click on the option titled Save."
- If you see the following instruction: "Set material Opacity to 0.5."
- This means "double click the specified material, find its Opacity parameter, and set its value to 0.5.
- Filenames and paths are written with full capitalization, as in \SCENOME\USER\EXERCISES\EXERCISE_01.BOX.
- If a drive letter is specified, it's usually C:\. If you're working off D:\, follow the instructions but change the drive letter.
- Any program command followed by an ellipsis, or "..." either presents a dialog box or will request further input before executing.
- If you see the following instruction: "Examine the hierarchy:" or "Examine the worksheet:"
- This means look at the hierarchy or worksheet.
Measurements & Units
Most instructions do not require you set a specific label such as "10 ft". Simply
typing "10" is fine. Don't enter specific unit values such as "10 m" or "10 cm" unless you are
instructed to do so. If you're experimenting you may want to try entering values such as
"1 ft + 1 cm" or "3m / 2in".
