Navigation

Print this list and keep it handy. Use ALT+Z to set the software to navigate mode. Hitting ALT+Z returns the software to the previous mode. Please note the following:

• Navigation speed is affected by the value of the Far Clipping Plane set in Worksheet » Properties on the main menu. A larger value assumes a larger database and faster motion.
• You MUST have a three-button mouse to use ScenomePlatform navigation effectively. Navigation with a touchpad or two-button mouse is frustrating.

Definitions

Industry-standard navigation terminology is as follows:

• Dolly. Move the camera forward or backward.
• Pan. Move the camera sideways or forwards.
• Rotate. Turn the camera right or left. [Looking to the right or left.]
• Tilt. Turn the camera up or down. [Look at the ground or the sky.]

Perspective View

When navigating in perspective:

Mouse	Action
Left Button Drag	Dolly or rotate the camera.
Left Button Doubleclick	Center the camera on the position indicated by the double click.
Middle Mouse Drag	Pan the camera along X or Y without altering its orientation.
Middle Mouse Spin	Dolly the camera forwards or backwards toward the location of the mouse cursor.
Right Button Drag	Tilt or rotate the camera without changing its position.

Isometric View

When navigating in an isometric view:

Mouse	Action
Left Button Drag	Move the camera.
Left Button Doubleclick	Center the camera on the position indicated by the double click.
Middle Mouse Drag	Pan the camera along X or Y without altering its orientation.
Middle Mouse Spin	Zoom in or out relative to the cursor position.
Right Button Drag	Zoom relative to the center of the worksheet.
