Software Activation

In this exercise you'll learn to activate software you purchased from Scenomics®. This process is very easy, but please take your time and follow all the instructions.

Open The License Manager Folder

  1. Shut down any running Simdify applications such as Layout.
  2. Start the Layout app. (Start » Programs » Scenomics » Layout) or (Windows® key and then type 'Layout' to find the app icon.)

    The application displays a splash screen and then the application desktop appears.

  3. Select Help » Open License Manager Folder from the main menu.

    The software opens a Windows® folder to the directory containing the license managers.

  4. Leave this folder open and shut down the Layout application.

Create Activation Code Records

  1. Examine the folder that you opened that contains the license managers.
  2. If the file scenomics_activation_codes.txt already exists, then double click the file to open it and move to the next section titled Gather Licensing Information.
  3. If the file scenomics_activation_codes.txt does not exist, right click on some whitespace and select New » Text Document from the listed options.
  4. Set the name of the file to scenomics_activation_codes.txt.

    It's important that you set the name of this file exactly as instructed.

  5. If you just created the file scenomics_activation_codes.txt, double click the file to open it in a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.

Gather Licensing Information

  1. Examine the folder that you opened that contains the license managers.
  2. Find the license manager for the product you just purchased and installed.

    For example: if you purchased and installed Simdify® Video Module, the license manager is called Simdify-Video-Module-License-Manager.exe.

  3. Double click the license manager executable to begin the activation process.

    Note that the product is shown as LOCKED.

  4. Return to the text editor and enter the name of the license manager you're using for activation, followed by a comma.

    NOTE: If there is existing license information in the text file, start a new line.

  5. Return to the license manager.
  6. Select the Site code value and use CTRL + C to copy the value to the Windows clipboard.
  7. Return to the text editor and paste the Site code value in after the comma.

    Don't forget to type a comma after the Site code value as shown below.

  8. Return to the license manager.
  9. Select the MID value and use CTRL + C to copy the value to the Windows clipboard.
  10. Return to the text editor and paste the MID value in after the comma.

  11. Save the text file and email the licensing information such as Simdify-Video-Module-License-Manager.exe, EFEC485A, 8618-D470-314B-0629 to support@scenomics.com.

    You must use the email associated with the account at the payment processor you used to provide payment. Otherwise, our systems are not able to issue an activation code.

    Check your email for an activation code. Please don't forget to check your junk mail/spam email folder as well if the email does not appear in your regular inbox.

Activate Your Product

  1. Return to the text file containing the licensing information.
  2. Paste the activation code you received from support@scenomics.com at the end.

    Don't forget to type a comma after the MID value as shown below.

  3. Return to the license manager. This is a picture license manager activation screen.
  4. Paste the activation code into the text entry field named Activation code. This is a picture license manager activation screen with the activation code.
  5. Click Continue >> to activate your product.

    The license manager activates the license and exits. You can start using your new software immediately.

Review Product Activation

  1. Return to the folder and double click the license manager again.

    Note that the product is shown as LICENSED.

    You can use the license manager to manage licenses. For example to transfer a license to a different computer.

    This exercise is complete. You'll be able to start using your new software immediately!
